Penta is one of the
oldest WoW guilds in the world
The
Penta Guild was founded in october 2004 by Taldrey in WoW EU closed beta, and it was
a great success:
Taldrey was the first alliance mage to
reach lvl 60.
He reached lvl 60 on november 10th
2004.
Penta had the second most guild XP,
even though we had less than 40 accounts.
Penta had 20% of all lvl 60's on the
server.
Penta was probably the most respected
guild, because of our kind and helpful guild members.
Due to the great success in beta,
Taldrey decided to make the Penta Guild on day one in retail.
Penta is a casual
guild
So what does casual mean? Inactive?
Slacking? Incompetent? No, not at all.
To us casual means:
- not doing endgame/hardcore content.
- not expect guildmembers to raid 3-5
times a week into the late hours.
Therefore:
- In Penta you only need to attend 1
raid per week in average.
- In Penta we stop our raids at about
22:00 - 22:30 WoW time on working days.
- In Penta we expect you to show up in
time, be well (p)repared and do your best.
Penta is an active
guild
Even though we don't do hardcore/endgame
content, we are still an active guild:
- We have weekly events in the 5 man
instances of Burning Crusade.
Most of them are made on the fly, with
guild members who are online, and need to go to specific places for
items and quests.
- We have 2 weekly planned events to
Karazhan.
- Now and then we have some funny
events like our birthdayparties and christmasparties.
It's important to understand that most
guild members have fulltime jobs, and therefore you will not see
many - if any - online from about 9:00 - 17:00 on working days.
We see no point in having inactive
players, so if your character havent been online for more than 1
month (2 weeks for players on trial), or havent been participating in our events and raids on a
regular basis, it will be removed from the guild. If you know that you cant
be online for a long time, and you would like to stay in the guild,
please make sure to tell Taldrey.
Penta is a mature
guild
When we say mature, we really mean
mature, not just players above 18:
- Most guild members in Penta are 30+
of age.
- Most guild members have fulltime
jobs.
- Most guild members have a girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband
and kids.
- We dont normally accept people below
25.
Penta got no
officers
We find that in a mature guild like
Penta, there is really no need for officers. Our guildmaster and his
wife, Taldrey and Misstaldrey, takes care of all the administrative
work: forum, website, bank, arranging events, inviting new guild
members etc.
Our guild master, Taldrey, also sets
the guidelines and the goals for Penta. If you share his passion for
a casual, mature and active guild, filled with kind and helpful
players, then you will love Penta.
In real life Taldrey got years of
experience in management and leadership from work, and he uses these
skills in his role as a guild master.
Penta got a zero
tolerance policy for bad behavior
Even though we do everything we can to
protect our kind, friendly and mature environment, sometimes a
player turn out to be, well, not right for Penta, to put it in a
nice way. Lucky for our guild members, our guildmaster is not afraid
to confront these players and take care of any given problem.
Therefore: if you have any problems, small or
big, please contact Taldrey by

or in the game. Let him help you solve the problem in a good way,
instead of arguing with each other, or leaving the guild in anger.
Penta got a zero
tolerance policy for disloyalty
The relationship between Penta and a
guild member is just like a marriage: we stick together for better
or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health...
we are loyal to each other. If you only stick around for the better
parts, and then leave, we see you as disloyal.
In other words: Hopefully Penta will
be the last WoW guild you ever join.
Our zero tolerance policy for
disloyalty means:
- If you make
an application for another guild, while you are still in Penta, you
will be kicked from the guild and the forum immediately without any
further notice.
- If you ever decide to leave Penta to
join another guild,
remember that we don't reinvite ex-members, so think about it very
carefully before you leave.
Penta is not a
preschool for hardcore guilds
Some of the best hardcore players on
the server, started out in Penta. Got the social skills, the
training and the good gear, and then left to join a hardcore guild
and do endgame stuff. We don't want to be a preschool for hardcore
guilds, so before you think about joining Penta, be sure that you
really, really want to join a casual guild, that doesn't do endgame/hardcore
stuff.
Using Penta as a preschool is a great
example of disloyalty.
Penta make invites
based on personality
In order to protect our kind, friendly
and mature environment, we are very picky about who we let into the
guild. It's not easy to get into Penta, that we will admit, but see
it this way: once you're in, you know that all your current and
future fellow guild members will be kind, friendly and mature just
like you.
The way we see it: raiding experience,
keys, good gear etc. is something we can work at. Something you can
get while being in Penta. A kind, friendly and mature personality is
something you need to have before you join. But never the less you
must be level 70, so you can participate in our fun, while you are
on trial.
How to join Penta:
- Read this website and make sure
Penta is the right guild for you.
- Contact Taldrey by
e-mail, in-game mail or in-game
whisper.
- If Taldrey thinks you could be Penta
material, he will set up an interview on Ventrilo.
For the interview on Ventrilo you must
have a mic.!
- If the interview goes well, you will
get an invite and have a trial period for 4-8 weeks.
- If the trial period goes well, you
will become a Penta member.

Our voice communication program, which we use in every instance, so
I can yell commands at you
You dont need a mic, as long as you can hear the raidleader speak, all
is good. But of course its preferable, if you have a mic. so i can
get some feedback on my questions etc.

Mods for WoW that helps us with a lot of raid stuff, like master
tanks, raid announcements, info on special boss powers etc.

Group Calendar
A very useful mod, that gives us an ingame calendar and an
eventplanning tool.

Omen
An essential tool, that gives us a graphical representation of the
aggro we have on a mob or boss. Its mostly useful on bosses, the MT
should always have 100% aggro, and if i with Taldrey are getting too
much aggro, and are getting close to the MT, i will stop my
spellcasting for a little while, until my aggro has fallen.

BigWigs Bossmods
Similar to CTRaid Bossmods, but this little program gives a lot more
info, fx. it tells when Moroes in Karazhan is vanishing.

Penta forum

We have our own forum, and we expect
all guild members to read the forum on a regular basis - lots of
important information here!
To answer, post and
read topics, you have to be a member of the forum, and only guild
members from Penta can be members of the forum. To prevent spammers and abuse,
we have closed the forum for new signs-ups.
Therefore:
- When you
register on the forum, be sure to use your in-game main character name as your
username. Other names will not be accepted.
- You also need to tell Taldrey or
Misstaldrey when you sign up, so we can open the forum for new
sign-ups.
If you leave the guild, your forum
account and all your posts will be deleted immediately. Therefore
the forum is not the best place to say your goodbyes. Use the guild
chat instead.
